What an amazing, lazy day! I spent almost the entire day in the bed watching TV/movies while Tony worked on his super-stressful project. I think I slept as much as I was awake... I had a strange craving for cucumbers around 3 this afternoon... :)
Tony got the at home Fetal Doppler that one of my work friends let me borrow. We've tried to use it before (about 2 weeks ago) with no luck. I don't think we were patient enough. Today, Tony wanted to try again. He figured we kind of knew a little better what kind of sound we were listening for. He tried for a while, then I tried for a while and just as we were about to give up, we hear a "woosh-woosh-woosh"--we found it! Little Peanut was tucked in waaaay over on the left side. Heart beat sounded good and strong! :)
I can't believe tomorrow we will be at 9 weeks! Tony asked me if I was going to read him the "baby update" tomorrow. So cute. We've found a couple of apps on the iPhone that update us every week and tell us how big baby should be and what is developing during that week. It's really amazing to see everything that goes on! Hard to believe that in just over 31 weeks, we'll have another Jaracz in the clan!

Peanut's Debut!
So... I figured it might be more fun to "story line" pregnancy stuff here rather than on Facebook, so here goes!
We found out that we were pregnant the last week in February. My doctor said "Don't be surprised if it takes 6 months or so. That's normal." We were back the next month for our first prenatal visit! I'm in week 8 now, and so far everything has been incredibly smooth. I thank God (and my mother!!) for great genetics--mom said she wasn't sick either. She used to tell me that she would be pregnant all the time because she felt so good when she was! Telling mom and dad was lots of fun. They were just as excited as we wanted them to be! None of us could wait to start buying baby things and talking about names and plans. :)
The first prenatal visit was pretty uneventful. I just love my doctor--Dr. Dolar Patolia. She's so professional and warm and sweet. She answered all our questions with tons of patience and was very informative. She had me do a urine test (which I had done on my own about 15 times up to this point!!) and talked to me about diet and safe medication and exercise. She even gave me the "What to Expect" book as a freebie!
We had decided to tell certain people first...then let everyone know. I told my school kids on my 30th birthday--and it was a great birthday present for myself! They are all so excited and ask so many questions. They can't wait to see what the "baby is the size of" from week to week. They are taking great care of me--being nice and keeping an eye on me all the time.
We went to have our first ultrasound today! It was so neat--Peanut was very cooperative AND Dr. Patolia showed me all kinds of anatomy things while doing the ultrasound! We got a view of Peanut first thing. She measured the length and it was 2.54cm. We just saw the most perfect little profile and heartbeat! This is the first picture she took:
We still have the due date set as November 6th. Dr. Patolia said that she only delivers at Texas Woman's Hospital which we are very happy with--that's where Lisa (Josh's wife) delivered, and it seemed like the experience they had was a very positive one.
We can't wait! 32 more weeks until we meet our little one!! :)

Side view--profile
The heartbeat was about 168 bpm--which Dr. Patolia said was perfect. Everything measured great! She checked out a few more things--and then came back to the baby. We got an even better picture that time!!
(See the little arms and legs! What a great front view!)
When she went back for the second view, we got to see the little legs move! Baby was just kicking up a storm! Dr. Patolia was as surprised as we were--she said it isn't very typical to see so much movement (or any at all) this early along. We're at 8 weeks, and she said that most people don't see movement until 10! Our little guy or gal is already showing off! Tony said that Peanut is just showing that he/she is "advanced". Dr. Patolia told us that since we saw such great movement, we really didn't have any threat of miscarriage--the risks were the same as if I was already 12 weeks along. The heartbeat was about 168 bpm--which Dr. Patolia said was perfect. Fabulous Friday
Got up and made homemade blueberry muffins this morning at 6 before Tony went to work. They turned out pretty yummy---except we both agreed they were a little on the sweet side. Here's the recipe:
1 cup milk
1 egg
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup white sugar
1 cup blueberries
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup brown sugar (sprinkle on top before baking--optional)
1. preheat oven to 400 and set up muffin cup liners.
2. In a large bowl, stir together milk, egg and oil. Add flour, baking powder, sugar and blueberries; gently mix the batter with only a few strokes. Spoon batter into cups.
3. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
4. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve hot!
I got the recipe from allrecipes.com . One of the comments said to use 1 cup of sugar instead of 1/2 (like the recipe said to use before I changed it). I would go with 1/2 cup next time, unless they were for snacks and not breakfast. Another comment said to add vanilla, but I am glad that I didn't. I liked the flavor, just not all the sugar.
Going to the grocery store to pick up more blueberries today. Maybe I will try again this weekend! Tony talked about going to the Houston Symphony or to see a play (The Mousetrap) at the Alley Theater. Looks like it's shaping up to be a great weekend!
For now, I'm off to take my cousin's daughter to see Eclipse. Don't tell---it's my second time to see it. ;)

Fun Date Night!
Had so much fun last night!! We stayed out laaaaaaate.... Hit the Astros vs. Pirates game last night with a couple of Tony's work friends, then went to the Flying Saucer for trivia www.beerknurd.com ! Tried a couple new kinds of beer (Real Ale Brewhouse Brown and Murphy's <--YUMMY! I got to WOW Tony with my useless knowledge. We knew 4/10 in round 1, 4/10 in round 2 ("Dragons" was the category), and 6/10(!!) in round 3 ("Types of things"). They asked about Harry Potter magical spells in round 3! Tony and I ended up with 150 points, and didn't win (3rd place had 180, can't remember 1st and 2nd but it was a tie). One team's name was the Bayside Tigers! So funny. We were the Terrible 2. We walked around downtown a little; it reminded me of how much fun we had in NYC. I need to put up some pictures of that trip!
Today needs to be a productive day. I've got homework to work on to finish up my Masters... a car to clean and laundry to do. It looks like rain, so I better get the car cleaning going!

Summertime...and the livin's easy!!
Having a lazy summer day today. Many, many (too many) old episodes of Gray's Anatomy watched. I'm so glad to have my dogs back home to keep me company! This is a picture that my brother Jason took of their vacation at Mom & Daddy's house in Henderson. From left to right, there's Baxter, Bella and Gracey.
Jason took Bella to get her hair cut---thank goodness! She looks like a tiny black deer now; she's all legs! As I type, she is laying right beside me on the couch all sprawled out. Baxter is on the floor in his little green bed---fat and happy!
I'm about to try a new recipe--slow cooker ribs. See, we've got ALL this cow in our garage freezer we need to get rid of... So, here goes. The recipe is on www.allrecipes.com . Love that site! Here's a link to it directly: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/slow-cooker-barbecue-ribs/Detail.aspx . The comments say to swap out the ketchup for bbq sauce...so I'm going to try that. We'll see how it goes!

Late nights are so productive...
Christmas with the Alford clan was great--as always. East Texas is so relaxing. My favorite thing (besides spending time with my favorite family in the world) was sitting by the fire. It makes everything feel ok. :) The new Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart were fun...and Mimi taught me to crochet! I did it all the way back from Henderson. I picked up sewing last Christmas. I'm just a regular domestic. When I want to be. Santa brought me the movie "Julie and Julia." I just love it. Mom said that I remind her of Julie... Not sure what to make of that because Julie was a bit of a loon!
Packing for Michigan. Tony and I managed to pack in one (yes, ONE) suitcase for the trip. We're pretty pumped because he got to bump us to FIRST CLASS for our flight tomorrow. I feel like such a peon---I've never flown first class before! Tony loses his "elite" status at the end of the year, which stinks because our flight back is on Jan. 1st. That means that not only do we not get bumped to first class, but we also have to pay for our checked baggage---which is the reason for the single sad suitcase. Keep focused on the positive, right? First class!! I've just gotta have Champagne on the trip. What's a first class ride without it?!!
Very glad Josh is house/dog sitting for us!! Thanks bro!
I always get a little nervous going to Michigan to see Tony's family. Not because they are scary or mean but simply because we aren't able to see each other enough to get really comfortable. We're staying with his sister this time, which is new. I'm pretty excited about playing with his nieces Allison and Harley. Allison is 8 (?) and Harley isn't even a year yet. Hopefully I'll get my baby fix for a little while. :)
I just realized exactly HOW late it is---1:30am . I am uploading songs on my iPod and then heading to bed. I managed to load about 50 songs, then (simply because of my own ignorance) I deleted them on accident and now had to re-do the whole thing. Oh well. Such is life.
Other news? Started going to the gym again! YAY! Ok, well "yay" for now. The 24 Hour Fitness over here isn't really the best. I think I might try the new one over close to the school once we're back in the swing of things. I've got my little routine and it's going well so far---at least for the two times I've been to the gym. Traveling makes it difficult, but at least there is an attempt going on. Tony and I started a weight loss challenge with my little brother while we were at home for Christmas. We've got monthly and a yearly prize!! We're all a little excited, but I'm sure that will wear off (unfortunately) pretty quickly. I'm sure Tony will win---he always does. I'd love to kick his butt though!
Currently: DETERMINED.
EDIT: Thought I might work harder if I make my goal known and try to keep up with it in a visible forum
GOAL: down 8 by the end of January. Easy--2 a week? I'm a waste of organic molecules if I can't handle that (ha--bio nerd slam--I just can't help myself)!! I'll keep updating---keep me on my toes!
